A Prelude of Things to Come
January 01, 2010
Happy New Year! A time of reviewing the past year and planning for the next. For me 2009 was a year of preparation for making 2010 awesome.
In no particular order, my goals for 2010 are:
Write an article once a week - Anton Peck preposed the idea of Project52. The aspiration is to write an article once a week for an entire year. I’m not particularly good at writing and procrastinate to post once I have written an article. The question arises, what will I write about? If you have any topic recommendations, please leave a comment. So please bear with me as I get into the groove of writing. My first post will be up by 1/07/10.
Contributing to the web community - I’ve been an outsider looking into the web community for far too long. It's about time I get involved and share what I’ve learned with others. I plan on being more engaged online and off. Dribbble offers a great place to post work and connect with other designers. Events like Refresh Portland and SXSW provide the opportunity to learn and meet others in person.
Go to SXSWi - Last year I made a New Years resolution to go to SXSWi. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it due to financial constraints. So when registration opened for SXSWi 2010, I immediately purchased my badge and booked my hotel. Hope to see some of you there.
Grow a massive beard - I registered for Whiskerino, a four month beard growing contest. You begin by shaving completely clean, then post photos as your beard grows. With two months to go my beard is already the largest it’s ever been. It has been liberating and the community is absolutely amazing.
Be more adventurous - Explore the outdoors with my family by taking road trips, going camping, and exploring new places.
Complete Games - I tend to play a lot of games without completing the main story line. The current to do list is Dragon Age: Origins, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and Halo 3: ODST. Maybe I can even write reviews which will help in the blog posting department.
This is just the beginning for what I’m hoping is the best year so far.

Best of luck with Whiskerino!
I would love to grow a beard this year, but alas, my facial hair looks like a 12 year old boy who has yet to have his first shave.
